20-20-20 Eye & Neck Reset
Screens don't just tire out your eyes — the fixed, forward-craned posture that comes with staring at a monitor for hours builds tension in your neck at the same time. This routine combines the well-known 20-20-20 eye rule with neck release moves, so you address both at once instead of just one.
The Workout
20-20-20 Eye Break
60 secLook at something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds — a window, a hallway, anything far from your screen. This relaxes the focusing muscles in your eyes, which stay contracted the entire time you're looking at a close-up monitor.
Neck Rolls
45 secSlowly roll your head in a full circle, 4 times each direction, keeping the movement slow and controlled. This releases the tightness that builds specifically from holding your head forward toward a screen.
Chin Tucks
45 secGently pull your chin straight back, like making a double chin, hold 2 seconds, release. Repeat 10 times. This directly counteracts forward head posture, which is the actual mechanical cause of a lot of screen-related neck pain.
Palming
60 secRub your palms together to warm them, then gently cup them over your closed eyes without pressing, blocking out all light. Breathe slowly. This gives your eyes genuine darkness and rest, not just a change of focal distance.
Shoulder Blade Squeezes
30 secSqueeze your shoulder blades together and down, hold 3 seconds, release. Repeat continuously. This opens up the chest and upper back, which rounds forward from both screen-hunching and eye-focused work.
