The Neck & Jaw Release
Looking down at a screen all day, phone included, pulls your neck into a forward position it was never meant to hold for hours, and stress quietly adds unconscious jaw clenching on top of it. This routine addresses both areas together with simple, no-equipment movements you can do right at your desk.
The Workout
Chin Tucks
45 secGently pull your head straight back, as if making a double chin, without tilting up or down. This directly counters forward head posture from screens and phones, strengthening the deep neck muscles that posture disables.
Neck Side Stretch
60 secTilt one ear toward your shoulder, using a light hand pull for gentle overpressure, holding 30 seconds per side. This releases the upper trapezius, which tightens from hours of holding your head slightly forward.
Jaw Release
45 secUsing your fingertips, massage small circles along your jaw hinge, just in front of your ears. Stress often causes unconscious jaw clenching during focused screen work, and this releases tension that builds up without you noticing it.
Neck Rotation
45 secSlowly turn your head to look over one shoulder, then the other, moving gently through the full range. This restores the side-to-side rotation that staring straight ahead at a screen all day slowly takes away.
Upper Trap Stretch
60 secReach one arm behind your back, then tilt your head away and slightly forward until you feel a stretch, holding 30 seconds per side. This targets a deeper layer of the same muscle carrying tension from both your neck and shoulders.
Slow Neck Circles
45 secRoll your head in slow, gentle circles, combining all the ranges of motion you just worked. This integrates the release and signals the routine is complete.
